A Study of Eutectics of Certain Fused Salts

Considerable work has been done investigating the freezing point curves of fused salts, but little has been written describing the appearance of their eutectic structures when observed under the microscope.

The Extraction of Chromate Salts from Montana Chromite

In this thesis I have tried to determine the suit­able temperature, time and the amount of soda ash and lime needed for the calcining process. The leaching and purification tests were studied experimentally. The earlier process for making chromate from chromite was not the same as is used today. There­fore I have found it useful to put into this thesis the newest method for making chromate salts and their important uses.

Bright Electroplating of Copper in the Acid Bath

Plating of various objects with mirror-like surfaces of chromium, nickel, and other metals has expanded considerably during the past decade, and now ranks as an important enterprise, particularly with respect to the automotive industry.

Electro-Deposition of Iron from a Chloride Bath

Iron was electro-deposited from a ferrous chloride bath. Studies were made of deposits formed when current density was varied, and fin­ally when both current density and temperature were changed. An attempt was made to lay the ground work for a long range study of the chloride bath, and to determine the most simple conditions possible for obtaining a smooth, even, and thick deposit.
